Why We Added Cans to Our Lineup

Why We Added Cans to Our Lineup Header Image

We bottle our beer for a reason. Bottles are a great package to keep beer tasting great, and with our nitro bottles, there is no better way to yield a great, cascading experience - but there are some situations where bottles simply don’t work.

At 3 Sheeps we try and make decisions based on what’s best for an individual beer. That’s why when we were working on recipes for two new beers (Fresh Coast Juicy Pale Ale and 3 Sheeps Pils), we made the decision to add cans to our lineup. Cans are great for beer -- they chill easily, they protect the beer, and they can go just about anywhere. They’re also light and compact down nicely when finished for taking home (take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints).

3 Sheeps Pils and Fresh Coast are camping beers. They’re golf beers, beach beers, or floating beers. They’re beers that are great for those times where a bottle just won’t do. And when we looked at our whole beer lineup, we decided that Waterslides, a favorite around the brewery, fit that bill too.

So, starting soon, we’ll have cans of Waterslides, 3 Sheeps Pils, and Fresh Coast. These beers weren’t chosen at random. They were picked because they just scream “outdoor drinking.”

3 Sheeps Pils

Anyone who opens a brewery in Wisconsin does so on the shoulders of giants. While the coasts may be known for their IPAs, the midwest has a long legacy of lagers. 3 Sheeps Pils is our tip of the hat to that legacy. It's a German-style Pilsner with a touch of cascade hops for a pleasant hop character without any of the bitterness. It’s crisp, clean, refreshing, and proudly Midwestern.

Fresh Coast Pale Ale

Fresh Coast Pale Ale is an East Coast-style pale ale brewed for the Midwest. Like most beers of the style, it pours cloudy...and that’s on purpose. The haze lets hop oils linger on the palate, enhancing their naturally citrusy and tropical fruit notes. To get that haze, we cultivate a special Vermont yeast strain that’s only used for Fresh Coast. It’s a pain to manage for just one beer, but it’s worth it. It’s the kind of beer you can drink all day, with your feet dangling in the lake. Because we live on the “Fresh Coast” and that’s worth celebrating, right?

Waterslides IPA

You know it, you love it, and now you can get it in cans! It’s the beer that helped make 3 Sheeps what it is. It’s complex and yet accessible, with more body than your typical IPA, and more hops than your typical Wisconsin beer. It’s balanced, drinkable and a reminder to always

For us, one of the main keys to a good can is being full of flavor and easy drinking. We hope you grab a few of these and see if you agree. Cheers!
